Guardian Jobs website suffers major security breach

24 October 2009 2,068 views 2 Comments

My girlfriend received the following email this evening from Guardian Jobs. The self confessed ‘market leader in recruitment across quality press for almost 20 years’ seems to have suffered a breach in security from an unknown hacker.

For the latest details on the breach you can click here.

It’s really unbelievable. Both The Guardian and Madgex will need to look seriously at their relationship after this. More importantly, the data security of jobs sites more than any other sites now need some form of regulation

It was bound to happen. Thumbs up for them to own up, although I do believe they were forced to. However, the database holds no records of credit cards of payment methods. Any jobseeker is basically out there, as nowadays the jobs just don’t move in a traditional “read the ad on the paper, send a letter” way. One has to be out there with the applications, registered in the databases and ones contact details have to be out there too.
